All children and adults must have a current registration and recreation card on file to participate in each program.
All children must follow the guidelines in order to remain in the program.
 
STEPPING CLASS: Learn to express your creative artistic styles of dance. Open to Boys and Girls ages 11-18. Program starts Saturdays in March 2010. 12:00-2:00 PM.

OPEN GAME ROOM: Monday-Friday 3:00 - 4:00PM and 5:00 - 6:00PM. Open to Boys and Girls grades 1 to 6. Enjoy air hockey, video games, board games, movies, foosball, and hockey. No ball playing permitted.

Y.E.T.: Youth Employment Training for youngest ages 14 to 17 to provide youth with work experience and necessary skills to apply for jobs successfully.

SUMMER CAMP: Monday to Friday 9:00AM - 4:00PM. Open to Boys and Girls 4 to 12 years of age. Children participate in a variety of activities through the day. Registration begins May 1.

NEXT GENERATION: Youth Outreach Program geared towards boosting morality and social values amongst children in community. Meets every Monday 6:00 - 7: 30PM. Open to all ages- boys & girls. Program starts in Sept.

PEER MENTORING: For youth ages 11-17 to provide them with Adult Mentors to assist, with educational, recreation and social issues. Program begins in Oct.

COOKING: For young boys-girls to learn to make their favorite meals, and learn the value of good eating habits and healthy nutrition programs begins in March.

HOMEWORK/TUTORING PROGRAM: Monday to Thursday 4:00 - 5:30PM. Purpose of this program is to offer assistance to children to do homework in a group setting and receive extra help in a variety of subjects. During the fall/winter months children who enroll in the program will be escorted home at 6:00PM. Program starts September.

TEEN BASKETBALL: Wednesday 6:30-9:30PM. Open to Boys and Girls grades 6 to 12. Located at Watson Elementary School, starting October-May.

OPEN BASKETBALL: Tuesday and Thursday. Men and women 18 and over at Watson Elementary School.
6:30 - 9:30 PM. Starts October.

SENIOR ARTS AND CRAFTS: In cooperation with the Town of Hempstead, seniors will have the opportunity to create projects just for themselves or others. Classes meet every other Thurs. 10:00AM - 12:00PM. Program starts September.

SENIOR CLUB: Meets every Wednesday to plan activities and social events together. Meetings are at 10:30 PM-3pm

RENTALS: The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center is available for family affairs such as wedding, youth birthday parties, (ages1-13), and family reunions.
 

ALCOHOL AND SMOKING IS NOT PERMITTED WITHIN A PUBLIC FACILITY UNDER NEW YORK STATE LAW.
 
The MLK has educational and cultural trips throughout the year.
