Mayor Francis X. Murray of the Village of Rockville Centre has been appointed to the Executive Committee of the New York State Conference of Mayors and Municipal Officials (NYCOM). Mayor William Nelson of the City of Ogdensburg, NYCOM President, made the selection. The Executive Committee is responsible for governing the Conference of Mayors and establishing its overall policies.

Francis X. Murray is a life-long resident of Rockville Centre. He is a graduate of St. Agnes Grammar School and Cardinal Farley Military Academy and attended the University of Dayton. Mayor Murray has a long record of public service to the Rockville Centre Community. In addition to being an active member of the RVC Fire Department since 1972, including service as an EMT, he is a former Co-Chair of the RVC Environmental and Beautification Committee; former Vice-President of the RVC Conservancy; is currently President of the RVC Community Fund; a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre; 2009 Grand Marshall of the RVC St. Patrick's Parade; three-time chair of the St. Agnes Parish Cel¬ebration; a member of Mercy Medical Center's Planning Board; and former president of the Friends of Mercy and Special Advisor to the Board. He has also been a member of NYCOM's Legislative Committee and currently serves on the Nassau County Village Officials Association's Executive Board.
